The Craigslist Find: Candy Apple Red 1966 Mustang

Periodically, we'll throw a little light on a Craigslist post or eBay auction that catches our attention. Please keep in mind that these are not advertisements - the sellers have no idea, in most cases, that we are highlighting their goods.

When it comes to the cars that will be showcased, they will never, ever be practical, sound purchases. They will always be fun, vintage, and typically temperamental. These are the third-cars we all dream about, and we're not apologetic about it in the least!

One of the most desirable models in American car-making history, the 1966 Mustang is a classic find. This example looks to be far from stock, and the seller does note that the original 289 has been replaced with (a presumably newer) 302 engine.

Just feast your eyes on the interior and dash. She's a beauty, inside and out!

This particular example is definitely visually appealing. If you live in the West Fargo, ND area, it can be yours (for now). Check out the original link (non-evergreen link): http://bismarck.craigslist.org/cto/3250360413.html

Timeless Compositions: Quincy Jones - "Moanin'"

For those of us under the age of 40, Quincy Jones is a record producer who has worked with Michael Jackson, Frank Sinatra, and others. What you may not know is that Mr. Jones really got his start first as a trumpet player, then as an arranger and conductor for Ray Charles, Duke Ellington, Count Basie, and others. Jones toured Europe in the late 1950s as a conductor of a big band orchestra, during which time this video was recorded. The footage below speaks for itself. The song is “Moanin'” and its best recorded version appears on Finest Hour. But, as you’ll come to expect from this blog, we’ll let the music speak for itself.

Welcome to The Daily Throwback

Welcome to The Daily Throwback! This site is dedicated to an interesting prospect: that younger people, under say the age of 50, would be interested, intrigued, and (some may say) obsessed with the way things were. Old movies, old fashion, old music, old ways of life, and old-school celebrities will regularly be featured on this blog. Seeing as I’m a guy myself, this site will have an obvious tilt toward the gents and will routinely cover men's interests and men's fashion of yesteryear. But fairer sex readers are most assuredly always welcome! What this site is not is any shade of noir, retro cliché, or trendy revival. This blog is adherent to a simple premise: Human culture was better when humans had culture. As such, welcome and enjoy. And stay tuned for more because, as the name implies, this site will be updated daily (for the most part).
